
John David McCormack
John David McCormack, president of Waukeshaw Development, Inc., is leading
revitalization and rehabilitation efforts in Southside Virginia. To date, McCormack has
overseen, or has underway, adaptive reuse and historic tax credit developments
comprising more than 750,000 square feet, reflecting a total investment of more than $80
Million.
McCormack’s many adaptive reuse projects include three phases of the Mayton Transfer
Lofts in Old Town Petersburg, repurposing of Hopewell’s James E Mallonee HS in
Hopewell, VA; a small-budget film studio (Blind Tiger Filmworks), as well as several
successful restaurants, including Demolition Coffee, Buttermilk Bakeshop, and
Trapezium Brewing Company, a 30-barrel production brewery which opened in June
2016.
McCormack also works with municipalities across the state, and has expertise developing
complex projects in small and unproven markets including Bedford, Blackstone,
Martinsville and Cape Charles, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. As the owner of Plum Street
Partners, McCormack also oversees the property management of more than 400 multi-
family and commercial units, and has a 15-year track record of successful management of
market-rate apartments.
